The town is surrounded by beautiful countryside and pretty canalside strolls can be enjoyed just 5 minutes’ walk away, along the Kennet and Avon Canal. Free private parking is provided. With blue panelled walls and a large open-fire, the bistro offers freshly made burgers, char-grilled steaks and vegetarian dishes, as well as a varied children’s menu.

    Lovely, characterful and historic hotel.
    The hotel was comfortable, clean and the breakfast very good. Great value for money.
    Communal areas were quite cold - it was however a freezing day!

    Wonderful!
    Wonderful atmosphere and very friendly staff. Perfect location for exploring Devizes.
    Pillows could have been a little softer, but that's obviously a personal opinion. I'm sure other guests will find them to be just fine.

    Room was very dark, and the radiator didn't work but we were given more heaters! Wallpaper was coming away from walls because of damp and curtains had watermarks!!

    Friendly old fashioned comfort appealing to older clientele
    Friendly warm atmosphere. Traditional old fashioned service in an old building that hasn't been modernised so it loses all character. Lovely old beams and real fire
    Loved the breakfasts but evening meals to a lower standard. More like pub grub.

    The parking was free and right by the hotel. Bar staff are friendly.
    The hotel is in need of refurbishment, the pictures on booking do not show its real state. The paint is peeling off the walls. The carpets are threadbare in places and the cooked English breakfast was reheated instead of cooked fresh. The staff hardly made eye contact and the dishes at breakfast were cleared in a loud clatter and the breakfast room was cold. The bar staff were much better though the tables needed cleaning.

    Location excellent. Staff super efficient and friendly. Fair value for money.
    Cleanliness left wanting in some areas, e.g. stain on bed base, lining papers in drawers stained, one curtain in breakfast room shredded. Bed a little small for our liking
