    Great location, friendly staff, shabby property
    The location in Castleton couldn't be better, fine old property and very friendly staff. The bedroom was very spacious and exceptionally clean.
    The whole property needs redecoration. Everywhere the paintwork is heavily marked with usage or just peeling off and in areas plaster is falling off the walls. The gents toilets are not up to standard for the price charged by the hotel. The easy chars in the snug area need replacing, one is covered by a throw to disguise a gaping hole in the arm. The outside areas are uncared for with chairs upturned in the wind and ashtrays full of butts and overflowing with water evident over the 3 days we were there for.. The rear entrance was full of leaves. There is not enough care and attention.

    Enjoyable ! Lovely staff Natalie shone with her friendly manner and helpful nature
    Warm cosy and excellent food . A little chilly in the bar area a fire would have been nice in there .
    It was all lovely more tea and coffee in the room would have been good . Only 2 tea bags . However another member of staff Natalie went out of her way to provide more quite late at night .

    Fantastic and will book again.
    The location of the hotel was our main attraction and its homely comforts. Fire was on when we arrived and just simply made us feel relaxed. food was very nice and good choiuce of beer after a long mam tor ridge walk.
    The iron in the room didnt work.

    Loved the location. Fantastic pub and food. Chipshop within a minute of walk to top it up.
    Fire alarm. Kids went in to panic mode. We endeavour to visit again to give it second chance.

    We stayed in Room 3 which was a very clean and tidy room with the dcor and furnishings in excellent condition. As a period property there are steps up and to the room and the odd squeaky floor board in the room, but this is pretty much expected for the age of the property and wasnt an issue for us. The room was nice and warm and the bathroom had piping hot water, as well as the usual tea making facilities, iron and hair dryer what more do you need and this all been top class well done. The staff were welcoming and friendly. We also ate food at the property off the festive menu and again all excellent service and good food. Overall I have to say I was very impressed
