At the reception, they were very good at hospitality and also very polite.
Breakfast was not very good.as a 5star hotel it should have more variations in the food .And some of the waiter 's attitude was not very good. One was just making hurry to pay the breakfast bill by my colleague whose booking was without breakfast.

    Disappointing
Would've been fine if it was listed as a 3 star with minimal facilities.
The entrance to the hotel and the lobby itself is extremely well presented and what you would expect of a hotel claiming to be a five star. The staff were also very friendly and, for the most part, helpful and knowledgeable. The breakfast which we had included was okay as well. No more, no less. Is 'okay' sufficient for a five star, though? I'll let you think on that. The fresh juice on arrival was a nice touch.
Well...everything else, frankly. The room, whilst clean and tidy, was very dated and actually, much smaller, less modernised, and generally less comfortable than the four star we had moved from in Thamel. The room was that of a three star, at best. More pertinently, the hotel lists among its facilities a sauna, which, when we went to look for it, we discovered that this actually no longer exists and the room in which, presumably, it once did, is now being used for storage. The swimming pool was also seemingly not being maintained as it was green in colour, with the outdoor bar covered in dust and debris and clearly not in use. We asked whether towels were available for use around the pool and was advised (by a not particularly friendly member of staff) that we should just bring them down from our room. The fitness center is pretty basic, but at least exists, so there is that. And then there is the location. We should have known what we were coming into, really, but having booked this hotel prior to arriving in Kathmandu, I guess we made a bit of an educated guess that it was close enough to things within the city, but having moved from Thamel, which is lively and fun, we were extremely disappointed to find out where the Everest Hotel was situated (about an hours walk away from Thamel, along the side of a main road, and with little nearby). As it was, due to the facilities being as poor as they were, we ended up walking a 2 hour round trip every day of our stay, back to Thamel. I understand from a friend subsequent to our stay that the hotel was closed for some time following the earthquake in 2015 and in that context I have some sympathy in terms of them looking to re-open, and having to deal with the fallout of that horrible event, but ultimately, for a hotel listed, today, as a five star, with certain facilities, it was and remains a big disappointment and frankly, the reality doesn't match the expectation. Or at least, it certainly did not for me.

    Good
Overall a good value for money
Close to government ministries, away from the crowded center, quiet at night
Slightly dated style, run down facilities. Traffic nightmare, especially during rush hour.

    Renovations are needed
The location of this hotel is rather central and from the airport easy to reach which makes it very convienent. The staff was very friendly and helpful.
The hotel would need to undergo some renovations. From the room door not closing flush (so every noise penetrated to the room incl the evelator music), to the windows not closing properly (and there is quite some street noise), to half-rotten sealing joints in the bathroom to dust around the bed, stains on sofa and chair - there is space for improvement.

Keep this as last option if you are looking for family stay.
Breakfast was really good with many options and enough seating.
Room was stinky as well as very old,had to ask for room freshner. Provided room was not having good view,no ventilation etc. Checkin time was 2pm however upon arrival at 2.40pm I was asked to wait till 3pm since the room was not ready. 10% discount on F&B not provided as mentioned on booking.com until I fought for it.
