About This Property

Less than 200 metres from Eastbourne beach and opposite the Western Lawns, the The Lansdowne, Eastbourne has sea-facing lounges with original Victorian features and free Wi-Fi. Beachy Head’s chalk cl (Read More)iffs are just 2 miles from the hotel. 1912 Seafood & Steak restaurant officially opened on 14th October 2022. Over the past few months we have transformed the space and the offering to be one of the go-to dining hotspots in Eastbourne. Open daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The restaurant is located on the ground floor of the hotel and can be accessed through the hotel or its new street-side entrance. It is a large airy restaurant offering spectacular views over the sea, and a gorgeous backdrop to any meal. The 1912 brand represents the Lansdowne’s fascinating history. The hotel is currently in its 110th year of being owned and run by the same family, now in its fourth generation. It is believed that the Lansdowne is one of only a handful of hotels in the UK that have been owned and run by the same family for over a century. Family is really important to us. Eastbourne Pier is a 10-minute walk away and the Royal Eastbourne golf club can be reached after a 5-minute drive. Eastbourne Rail Station and the town centre are a 15-minute walk from the The Lansdowne, Eastbourne. All rooms are decorated and include a TV, hairdryer and tea and coffee facilities. Some rooms have views across the sea and feature antique furniture. We have 98 well appointed bedrooms of which seven are double bedded executive rooms, three are superior rooms and a Junior Suite, all south facing. All executive, superior and suite rooms are provided with bottled water and upgraded toiletries. We also have a number of family rooms available and can accommodate a family of four. Please note we have an ongoing refurbishment programme. Recently refurbished rooms are subject to availability and not guaranteed when making your reservation.

Very good

Excellent value, very comfortable.

A very short stay, but we could not fault it, we would stay there again. Spacious bedroom with sea view, and good selection for breakfast. All staff very nice.

Wont be returning, its a shame because I travel back and forth from Cyprus, and like familiarity

Most of the staff were good. The lounges were comfortable.

After being offered two rooms, that were not acceptable, we decided to accept the third. To say that the room was tired was an understatement. After complaining of a noisy extractor fan, it was still not fixed when we left. Heated towel rail in the bathroom didnt work. When we arrived, we were very tired after travelling from Cyprus. But I feel that I should have offered to pay more for a better room. Then maybe our stay would have been better.

Very good quality, much better than most 3 stars hotels.

Large family room, comfortable beds, very clean refurbished room. Good furniture, everything worked fine, no issues at all. Good breakfast, bot English and Continental. Nice toiletries and everything in the room was good quality, in excellent condition, fully functional. And an unusual one (but good): fantastic water pressure in the bathroom for both hot and cold.

Maybe the heating should be left on a bit longer. It wasnt too cold but it didnt feel warm enough at night.

Welcoming staff and nicely appointed traditional seaside hotel. Good bar and restaurant facilities.

Nice location on sea front. Sea view from my side single room. Helpful and friendly staff. Good breakfast. Reception looked after my luggage after checking out at 11am. Good selection of hot drinks in bedroom.

Mattress was too firm for me, uncomfortable sleep. I felt cold as no heating on arrival at 5pm, but the radiator came on later. Needed an extra blanket as I was rather chilly in the lightweight duvet and could not see extra bedding. Calamari starter had a purple section on two places which I left and showed the waitress, she reported back from chef saying it was a popped blood vessel, but I would have liked to have been offered an alternative or not to be charged for the purple calamari! Imposed service charge on the bill for dinner seemed unnecessary and not how I like to add a tip for service if it has been good!
