    Passable
Room too hot, not good value for money.
The staff were friendly and welcoming. There was a history of the house available - which was interesting.
The room was "tired", the room was too hot, so the window was open to cool it down. It seemed that the towel rail was so very hot that it warmed up the whole bathroom and bedroom. The hot water pressure was higher than the cold water pressure, so it was hard to get a reasonable temperature from the sink taps and shower. Indeed the hot water was so hot it was dangerous. Breakfast was OK, but it was "dry" - we had the Full English, but we rated it 6 out of 10. Not really very good value for money. Car park up a hill, would would difficult to access in icy weather!

    Disappointing
Awful and the management didnt seem to care. Owner should be ashamed .
    Size of bathroom
It was New Years Eve and the hotel laid on nothing - not a special meal, music, not even a popper. People including us had brought along celebratory evening wear and there was nothing!! Room was too hot and there was no control. Road noise, very draughty windows. Extremely creaky floorboards. No plugs beside the bed. No shaver socket in the bathroom. The drains in the shower and basin were virtually blocked so after a shower the water cascaded all over the floor. Photos sum up the essence of the place. Dont waste you time or money.

    Vast and rambling Historic hotel.
Historic ambience. Lovely staff. Excellent breakfasts. Great value for money
Tough climb to the carpark. Mews rooms getting pretty dilapidated - broken window catches, ancient shower, cracked tiles.

Very beautiful house on the countryside
The house is very beautiful. Lovely garden. We loved the different tea rooms.
The service stayed slightly below our expectation.

    Disappointing
    Disappointing
    Proximity to family.
Lack of parking. We were placed in the annex next to the laundry. The smell from stagnant water used to do laundry was evident and very unpleasant. Thankfully we spent most of the time out. I spent 6 nights in total.

    Exceptional
    Would highly recommend
Loved the location, the building itself, the room, the garden, friendly staff, lots of choice for breakfast (I enjoyed a beautifully cooked eggs royale), lovely comfy bed, big bathroom with a big walk in shower, nice treat and a little luxury. Due to a problem with the lock on the original room we were staying in we were upgraded to a room in the main hotel which was really lovely.
The quirky fish themed wallpaper in the bar - every else was in keeping with the surroundings.
