The West End Hotel is located in a B-listed Victorian townhouse only 15-minutes walk from the West End of Princes Street, the perfect base to relax yet within easy reach of all that Edinburgh has to (Read More)offer. We offer simple, quality accommodation for guests that want to make the most of their time exploring Scotland’s capital. After a full room refurbishment in 2018, The West End Hotel Edinburgh offers modern and bright DORMITORY rooms which are comfortable and welcoming. Choose to stay in either one of our small 6 bed dormitory rooms with En-suite or one of our larger dormitories with shared bathrooms, you won’t be disappointed! Rooms at West End Hostel are accessible by stairs as there is no lift at this hotel. The property also boasts original high ceilings and bay windows. Buses run every 10 minutes from the hotel to the city centre. Edinburgh Haymarket Rail Station is just a 5-minute walk. Public parking is available at the nearby NCP Car Park, which is 20 minutes' walk from the hotel. Groups of 8 or more people must pay a damage deposit of £20 per person upon arrival cash only - this will be refunded on check out once no damage or disturbance has been caused as per hostel rules.

disappointing

- thick blanket (although the room is already well-heated) - lockers that dont need padlock - free football games at the bar - two usb charging ports at least

- no wifi - no heating in toilet - no hot water in shower - lower bunk bed ceiling is so low one cant even sit up straight - charging plug doesnt work (3-pin) as charger kept popping out

The location was excellent and the staff were friendly and helpful. The kitchen and dining area were very handy and the laundry service was an added bonus.

The location is very good and you can find kitchen to share.

The WiFi is was almost non-existent. The pieces to climb onto the beds are very hard and the mattress was not very good

Disappointing

Cheap with a good location

The room was cheap and it is important to note that as you get what you pay for but the location was great, approx. 20 mins stroll into the city center.

The rooms were incredibly hot and the wifi did not work in the room. There were only unisex bathrooms with little space to leave clothing while one showers. The general communal areas also closed at a certain time, leaving no space to hang around as that was the only spots with wifi.

Really good location. Very close to princes street and the castle. Friendly staff. Very clean. Comfy beds.

3 stacked bunks so there is not any room you cant even sit up. Internet didnt work in the bar or in the rooms at all, would not even connect. Not the hostels fault but the snoring oh my god ruined my sleep :(( but again not their fault luck of the draw! Defs recommend this place.

Hi, the stay was very uncomfortable- I do understand that it was a three bunk bed situation but none of it was comfortable as could not sit in it - only have to lay down . Always hit on the head.

The lounge at the bottom floor

Hardly any space in the hostel to move around and being placed at the top bunk I can't even sit up and have to crawl to get down. Quite disappointing and my back hurt as a result!
