The Avid hotel in Tuscaloosa - University Area received praise for being budget-friendly and well-maintained. Guests appreciated the cleanliness of the rooms and the friendly staff. Despite the rooms (Read More) being smaller than other Holiday Inn brands, they were still spacious enough. The inclusion of a welcome message on the TV and an easy checkout process were also appreciated. Convenient location

We arrived for the HS football championship game. Check in was at 3 we arrived at 2. We were told that our room was not available yet but we could wait in the lobby until it was finished and ready at 3. I understood because there were tons of people in town. While waiting the desk checked in a LARGE family of more than 6 people and 3-4 other couples while we just sat there. Finally I went up and asked and he was very rude and told me he WOULD call me when he had a room available. He told me they had an entire football team checking in that evening and was trying to get everyone in the same place. The issue was we were NOT with that football team and we were about to miss all the important parts of our sons championship game if we didnt check in and leave soon. Finally after waiting 2 hrs and way after the check in time I was promised I just had to take my stuff and leave. When I returned close to midnight to finally check in I tried to complain but was brushed off like it wasnt a big deal since he didnt know what happened earlier. Wont be reserving a room here again.

Great hotel, staff not cooperative and not on top of their services

Breakfast was great

Check in kept getting delayed, the manager said they are waiting for a football team to check in first who werent even there when we arrived, we waited for an hour and a half to get the rooms which delayed our arrival for the games as well, we ended up changing clothes in the hotel restrooms and came back to the room later that night. Very unfortunate and unacceptable

Hotel was extremely clean. Room was somewhat small but was actually all we needed. Breakfast was great with numerous options. Friendly staff.

Superb

Great stay, employees/staff, the rooms, cleanliness etc...very satisfied. I actually came over about 2am from another hotel that was just so nasty that I couldn't feel/get comfortable enough to fall asleep. It was refreshing to walk into an Avid room after the other place.

Maybe a little bit more for the breakfast in the morning....pancakes, biscuits and gravy...
