The ability to handle our own cooking and laundry needs was a key factor in our choice. However, the gradual discovery of issues became apparent during our stay. The dish rack was full of rust, and encounters with ants and a cockroach in the bathroom were unsettling. The most concerning aspect was the presence of mold in the bathroom, only brought to our attention during a towel exchange after five nights by the manager. The subsequent treatment with a strong chemical was disruptive, making the bathroom unusable for an hour due to the overwhelming smell. This should not have been done with us still being actively inside and in my opinion should not have been rented out at all.
Moreover, the location of our room proved to be a significant drawback. Constant disturbances from other guests loitering outside our door disrupted our sleep regularly. The lack of privacy and the incessant noise from neighbouring guests made staying there unbearable, particularly with a new, loud occupant next door making sleep impossible.
Regrettably, despite these substantial issues impacting our stay, attempting to cancel resulted in a two-night cancellation fee, leaving us dissatisfied with the overall experience and the lack of flexibility in resolving our concerns.
In essence, while the concept of the studio apartment seemed promising for self-sufficiency, the multitude of issues encountered - from cleanliness concerns to noise disturbances and inflexible cancellation policies - overshadowed any initial positives. Improvement in maintenance, noise control, and more understanding cancellation policies could significantly enhance the appeal of this accommodation.
