Relaxing and effortless - 10 out of 10

The character of the venue was wonderful and steeped in history. There are so many lovely walks directly from the property too and the food and all the staff were excellent.

Fantastic stay

A beautiful setting, incredible food, wonderful staff, all in all an excellent stay I would thoroughly recommend it.

Slightly chilly in the Great Hall - take an extra jumper, it is a big room to heat!

Amazing weekend at a very relaxing and luxurious hotel

Staff are exceptionally friendly and attentive. Feyzullah and Mo in particular were brilliant.

Lack of lift made it tricky carrying the baby and pram up and down the stairs

Lovely staff, fantastic spa and outside hot tub all wrapped in stunning history.

The great hall is a wonder and a credit to the refurbishment team.

Enjoyable, but air conditioning not in all rooms.

Peaceful location with good facilities. All staff were excellent and extremely polite.

We understand that the property is a Listed Building, which posed restrictions on alterations, but there is no lift (elevator) and we were staying on the third floor with quite a lot of heavy bags. We were given help with our bags, but the stairs were very narrow. We were staying during unusually hot weather and our room did not have air conditioning. Two fans were provided, which gave some mild relief, but the heat really detracted from the enjoyment of our stay. We learned later that other rooms in another part of the hotel did have air conditioning, but this was not pointed out to us at check in, so make sure to ask before booking if you care about room temperature. To be fair England rarely has weather hot enough to make air conditioning necessary, but unfortunately it was last week.
