I travelled with a group, but had preferred to rather go somewhere else. It was my fourth stay in this hotel over the last years. I stayed in different rooms on different floors and know what I am talking about. Shuttle bus to Ft. Lauderdale that existed before is no longer offered. The hotel is run-down. Old carpets, walls need paint, bathrooms are not modern/suitable/contemporary. The entire hotel has a brownish, oppressive 80/90's ambiance. I assume that the hotel has a problem with mold. There are fans and devices installed all over the place (lobby, 3rd floor) to scent the air. Two years ago I needed to change rooms as it had a bad smell of mold from the A/C. This time my room had a welcome smell of urine. Maybe it was not in my room, but I believe there is a plumbing problem. The toilet bowl in my bathroom was loose. Housekeeping is done every other day. I stayed there three nights. They did not come at all. I recommend to wear ear plugs at night. (Applies for 3rd floor, four rooms away from from elevator) The noise from elevators, ventilation and ice machine is heard and may disturb your sleep.
I payed approx. USD 200 per night. The price is a rip off regarding a value-for-money ratio. Prices may have been higher as usual because Miami Dolphins played that weekend. To compare, I stayed in a very nice hotel with only best ratings for less than USD 200 at Miami South Beach.
