Reviewers Mention About Hotel Casa Gonzalez

Hotel Casa Gonzalez is a wonderful and charming hotel with friendly staff and amazing food. The only issues were mosquitoes in the bedrooms and small beds for taller guests. Nonetheless, it is highly (Read More) recommended due to its comfortable rooms, exceptional atmosphere, and beautiful garden. The neighborhood is safe with friendly locals, and the hotel is conveniently located for walking to various attractions. It is a great value for the price and the staff make guests feel like family. Excellent location in quiet residential area 5 minutes away from El Angel
Four restored houses set around pretty garden patios, large rooms with wooden floors and high ceilings, gives Casa Gonzalez a relaxing and safe vibe. Well located for Reforma and El Angel, and buses to Puebla depart from a stop a mere 250m away.
Could do with more heating, given the size of the room and winter temperatures at night.

Great location, nice feel overall and v comfy big bed.
Great location - super walkable into Roma and Condesa. Some nice food places near by too.
Our room wasnt the best in terms of view out. Window facing a wall but it wasnt a massive bother as we werent there very much. Bathroom is a bit run down but was clean and tidy with good water pressure.

Private garden areas with beautiful flowers, short distance to main areas, lots of eating areas.
The location was good, close to several restaurants. Walking distance to paseo la reforma was about 10 minutes. Close to Angel of Independence, Reforma 222 mall with many shops, restaurant, fast foods and cinema. The staff at hotel were very nice including restaurant staff.
The room was very cold. I had to ask for an extra heater. Other than that the rooms were very clean, beds were comfortable with nice pillows.

We used to go to Casa Gonzalez because of the location, cost and Jorge.
The room had no heat, the bed was so high off the floor that my wife needed to step on a chair to get into bed.

    Very good
Nice hotel in a very vibrant location.
This is a small hotel, in a great location. The entry is a little daunting, you need a key to open the gate. Inside, it's a nice space with small tables and open areas, a small courtyard and additional open spaces. Our room had 2 chairs outside for sitting if we wanted. The room was spacious and the bed was super comfortable. We had a king and a double in the room as well as a desk and a bench. It was a comfortable room. The bathroom was small and a little difficult to navigate because it was small. It served it's purpose. The have a very nice restaurant onsite. Breakfast was very good, lots of variety to choose from that was made fresh for you, not kept warm in a serving dish. We had a very good lunch at the hotel, food was well prepared and tasty. While we did not have dinner there (we were only there for a few days), the menu looked really good! The staff was very helpful in directing us and helping with taxis. The hotel is centrally located very close to the Angel of Independence statue, where you can easily get hop on, hop off buses, taxis, Ubers and regular buses. There are good restaurants within a few blocks of the hotel. Overall, it's a nice hotel and would have received better marks if the bathroom had been more updated and a little more spacious.
The bathroom was the only negative to this hotel because of it's size.

    Disappointing
Charming place that desperately needs to overhaul its infrastructure for health & safety reasons
Kitchen staff and servers are kind and helpful. The breakfast was delicious and a great value for money. The courtyard is beautiful and green.
The bathroom was plagued by a pervasive odor due to a missing P-trap under the sink. We were forced to keep the bathroom door closed at all times whenever we were in our room, as the bathroom constantly reeked of foul sewer gases. The sink lacked a stopper, so we had to exercise extreme caution to prevent jewelry or contact lenses from being washed down the drain. Additionally, the room desperately needs air conditioning, particularly given the unseasonably warm temperatures that have become the norm due to climate change. Nighttime temperatures in October would often soar into the high 70s, making the rooms uncomfortably warm. While they did provide a floor fan, it is not as effective as air conditioning. We were abruptly awakened late one night by an automated phone message instructing us to evacuate our room. However, it appeared to be a false alarm. There was no explanation provided by the management either that night or the following morning. The experience was disconcerting and unsettling. Alas, we harbored high expectations for Casa Gonzalez, given the overwhelming positive reviews and the LP endorsement.

A small older property with charm. Really comfortable beds.
Old tub and shower - not a dealbreaker for me but may be for some.

Great place to stay! Would definetly stay again
Private, very pleasant surroundings. Friendly staff. Good was very good and a good value as well.
I didnt like our room 133. It was next to laundry room, could hear bathroom activities next door. Most rooms had small tables just outside the door to enjoy afternoon coffee. Ours did not. Also car parked in view of window.
