Great location, bar & breakfast - service is AVERAGE
Large newly renovated rooms, bar is fabulous on the rooftop and the breakfast is great with lots of options. Fantastic central location for exploring tourist sites of Sydney.
The phone was broken in the room so I went to the concierge to organise a cot and room service for my young children. The concierge took the room service order, Room service took 45 mins, I called after 30 mins and it was clear my order was never properly logged. This was frustrating as it was dinner for our young kids, then when it arrived there were multiple mistakes and errors from being sent the wrong drink with room service to then receiving two of the same food orders although we only ordered one and then them having the nerve to charge for it! Check in took 30 mins with two young kids due to poor logistics of the reception desk and unclear queue lines. At breakfast twice I didnt receive an item Id ordered. First was my omelette which I didnt have energy to reorder as it was busy and I had a 2yo with me (IYKYK). Glasses werent replaced in the room after house keeping etc, just these little things add up over two nights stay which dampen the experience.

Good
Great location. Nice hotel, but overall, nothing really impressed me.
Comfy and spacious hotel room.
Impressive looking lobby area
Location
Decor was a bit bland.
I would have liked a breakfast dining alternative to the buffet breakfast ( I really dislike buffet dining), but also didn't want to eat in my room.
Overall nothing truly impressed me. I anticipated being impressed by this venue.

Amazing location and top quality stay
Amazing location and the building was beautiful. Breakfasts were delicious! Staff v helpful. Good value for money. It was 2 mins from circular quay.
It was hard to visit the rooftop bar and in fact we never went. Making it bookable for hotel guests is ridiculous.

Passable
Intercontinental : More miss than hit
Location is brilliant. Very central for walking and right next to Sydney Harbour
Laurence from Concierge desk, Roman at The Treasury and Priyank - Manager at The Conservatory were exceptionally helpful. Rest of the staff is very curt and quite cold.
Common amenities like lobby level bathrooms are filthy.
Carpet in rooms hasn't been vacuumed in months.
Generally, very poor maintenance overall.
Very long queues at breakfast. Poor selection of cheese and bread spreads.

Very poor
We were supremely disappointed with our stay and will not be returning.
The rooms were clean
From start to finish our experience was less than satisfactory. The concierge took our bags and we asked that they be brought straight to our room as we had a wedding to attend and needed to get ready immediately. There was a mix up and after calling twice we had to go downstairs to retrieve them ourselves and ended up late for our event.
The rooftop area that is part of all of their marketing - Instagram, the images displayed on booking.com etc was not accessible unless you paid a cover charge or were an intercontinental club member. The rooftop area was part of the reason we had booked this hotel and this was not clear until arrival.
On return to our hotel we tried to close our automatic curtains which wouldnt join in the middle leaving a wide gap. This was unable to be rectified overnight and we had to attempt to close them with a clip.
We have stayed in four intercontinentals this year and this was by far the worst experience we have had.
