Wonderful time at Tamassa resort

We had the most wonderful time at Tamassa! Our room was close to the beach so we enjoyed the great view of Indian Ocean. I have gluten allergy and everyone at the restaurant was helpful on choosing the right food for myself, even offering to prepare anything else if i would not like the buffet options.

A huge disappointment. Do yourself a favor and go someplace else, where they actually care.

The food at the buffet restaurant is great and the beach is quite big and beautiful - unfortunately these are the only 4-Star features of this hotel...

In short: Stay away from this hotel - what a huge disappointment! The staff made us wait unnecessarily a couple of times - basically wasting our time over and over again. Dirty and smelly water in our bathroom, basic things like towels or WIFI password were just missing and quite hard to get - striking incompetence and lack of care :( Full review: We were staying at Tamassa for a weekend in December 2023, which is considered the main season in Mauritius. Considering the price we paid, we were expecting a certain but reasonable level of hospitality, bliss and relaxation from a 4-Star hotel... !! Dirty and sewer-like smelling water came out of our bathroom's tabs. We reported this at the reception and they told us they would send someone to check - after an hour of waiting still nobody has shown up! !! No beach towels in our room upon arrival - it took us almost an hour and 3 attempts at the beach shack and reception to get our fricking towels - a lot of waiting again! !! The rooms and the most part of the facilities are quite run down. The pool table for example is a rusty joke. !! One afternoon I wanted to borrow some snorkeling equipment at the beach shack, note that snorkeling was mentioned as a free-of-charge activity - I got this reply: "Sorry sir, but we do not hand out the equipment to individuals - the snorkeling equipment is only available to the guest group on the boat, but the boat already left". Are you serious? Why can't a 4-Star hotel just lend a guest a pair of goggles and fins?? FIY there is only ONE boat going out for snorkeling per day! We're still unable to understand how you can mess up so badly so many times: is it the huge lack among staff of taking the initiative, total incompetence or perhaps they really don't care about their guest's requests?

Location and food was okay.

Being someone who visits hotels very frequently, i was honestly disappointed with Tamassa Hotel. Very poor customer service in restaurants, often neglected and talked to properly by staffs. We paid over 150 EUR for an all inclusive package and all we had in our minibar was a 2 beers and 2 soft drinks, which the hotel must have paid less than 2-3 EUR. No snacks were provided in our minibar, a first for me in my life, never seen this in any other hotel so far. Rooms and furniture are very old, dirty and outdated, and badly needs renovation. Bathtub in the room does not have a stopper and hence cannot be used to relax. Food was okay but definitely not worth the price we paid. On top, basic necessities, shampoo and body lotion was not provided at all, hotel said only soap is provided, which is a first for me taking into account all the hotels ive been to around Mauritius and overseas. Its a shame for such a hotel to form part of LUX Collective. DENITELY NOT RECOMMENDED. For the price paid, you will get better hotels of Constance Group or Beachcomber. Management need to open their eyes amd see how this hotel is being managed. If maintained properly, it would be a gorgeous hotel.

The facilities, the view, the staff were great. The place is breathtaking. The beach is a stroll away and there was entertainment every night. A great place to escape as a family

Our room had a roof leak that we alerted staff as soon as we checked in and everyday after that but it just wasn't taken seriously. The roof had a funny smell coz it is rotting but we were just told that 'maintenance' would sort it out. We checked out and the problem was still there. The least they could have done was move us to a less health hazardous room

Tamassa is a piece of paradise

Wonderful resort with carefully mantained garden. Wide beach with white sand and clear water, perfect for swimming or snokeling. Nice swimming pools, not very crowded. Great all inclusive package- large variety of dishes, different every day and a good variety of drinks. We appreciated the sunset beach party - it would have been nice to have more of them, lasting latter in the evening. Professional band playing in the evening at the main swimming pool and interesting shows. The furniture in the rooms is a bit outdated, but it does not spoil the overall feeling of well-being.
