A great find!
This inn is perfectly located for an overnight stay off the A1. It is full of character. The staff were welcoming and dealt with our specific requests promptly and courteously. The breakfast was superb - probably one of the best we have had.

Accommodation was excellent as were the public rooms.
The first evening meal was excellent.
The second nights evening meal my husbands birthday, was a disgrace.
Dry turkey and stuffing, burnt black sprouts that a knife couldnt cut. What appeared to be the previous day's roast potatoes reheated. The plate was awash with what looked like brown water I.e. the gravy.
We complained but he just got his sweet discounted.
Another guest sent her food back as it was inedible.

We stayed at the Bell Inn travelling from Europe to Scotland for Christmas. We booked based on previous visits. The hotel is very well situated for the A1, the room was lovely and the extra touches such as chocolates, bath robes, digital radio and nesspresso machine make the stay all the more pleasurable. We didn't have dinner here this visit as we met up with family but we know the food (and cheese) is great from previous visits. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful and served with a smile by fabulous staff. Absolutely nothing to complain about. We will be back again no doubt.
Nothing, we could find a single fault!

Superb
Perfect welcoming location for catch up with friends and wedding
Quirky, friendly, nice tea, coffee and chocs in room. Bar and restaurant was nice too. Lots of space, pretty, robes and everything in room.
There was a lovely room next to the restaurant where we could gather as a group and have a drink and chat. Beautiful open fire and traditional decorations.
Shower was low so had to stoop to wash hair, loath shower curtains. Slightly concerned about privacy as staff came in to our friends and cleaners were super early!
