    The evening carvery was very good quality, and reasonable in price.
    The breakfast, well as they stopped serving at 9am, we missed breakfast on both days, however on the first day we arrived at 9:30am and were offered a slice of toast and a cuppa. The second day we just didn't bother, 9am was a crazy time to stop serving, remember we were on holiday! All the other hotels we stayed at stopped serving at 10am. We stayed for two nights at the Down Inn and were given the room directly above the bar, we had a fabulous view over the roof of the kitchen, the air extraction vents were totally amazing, and we knew when chief was needed at the carvery, or they had run out of spuds. Other rooms looked across the kitchen roof onto open to countryside. The room was well furnished, dated, but bland, the TV small and the bathroom stark and heartless. No we would not return to The Down Inn, but we would return to BridgeNorth. Go for the carvery, the portions of desert were enormous, can't comment on the quality.

    Rooms were large, clean and comfortable. Large pub with good food. Service was good, especially Nikki, who is a diamond, and made our stay memorable.
    The floors upstairs were so unbelievably creaky. Mammoth task to solve but is a negative if your a light sleeper. Could do with a handyman snagging each room to just make small repairs and touch-ups. The smell from the kitchen does pervade upstairs which an upgraded exhaust system would sort that out.

    It met our needs for the stay, just.
    Bed was comfortable, room was a good size & clean
    Breakfast was not of a good standard, request for soft poached eggs was totally ignored, they came hard, I left them.
