The country experiences pleasant days with cool evenings, making it an ideal time for exploring both urban areas and natural attractions. October also marks the last month for the ideal travelling season in Georgia. As winter approaches in November, outdoor activities often get  hindered due to lower temperatures and snowfall.

In most parts of Georgia, including Tbilisi, the temperature in October can go up to 20-25°C during the day while at night you can experience up to 10°C. This makes October a great month for hiking and trekking, especially through the trails across the national parks like The Red Top Mountain State Park which is perfect to witness the autumn foilage. 

Coastal areas like Batumi may still enjoy slightly warmer temperatures, while mountainous regions such as Gudauri and Kazbegi experience cooler weather. Nighttime temperatures can drop to around 5°C in many places in the Caucasus region.

Humidity levels in October are generally moderate and comfortable for travelers. The average relative humidity ranges from 60% to 70%, depending on the specific region and local weather conditions. This moderate humidity along with the colorful autumn foliage and enhances the overall pleasant atmosphere.

Rainfall in Georgia in October

October sees varied rainfall patterns across Georgia. Coastal areas like Batumi and western cities like Kutaisi may experience more precipitation, while Tbilisi and other inland areas tend to be drier. On average, rainfall totals range from around 50mm to 100mm during the month. Showers are typically brief and interspersed with sunny periods, making for enjoyable outdoor activities. It is advisable to carry an umbrella when going out for longer periods as even though rare, showers can be unpredictable.

Wind conditions in October are generally calm to moderate throughout Georgia. Coastal areas like Batumi might experience slightly stronger breezes coming from the Black Sea, which can add a refreshing touch to the autumn air. Inland regions like Tbilisi and Kutaisi usually have gentler winds, contributing to comfortable weather conditions that is ideal for outdoor activities and adventures.

Hiking: October is an ideal month for hiking in Georgia, as the weather is cool and the landscapes are painted with autumn colors. Popular destinations like Kazbegi National Park in the Greater Caucasus and Borjomi-Kharagauli National Park in the Lesser Caucasus, offer dry trails in october.

Wine Tours: October is the grape harvest season in georgia. You can visit the vineyards to savour the authentic Georgian wines and witness the traditional Rtveli festival which celebrates the grape harvest.

Attending Tbilisoba: Tbilisoba, celebrated on the first weekend of October, marks the unofficial birthday of Tbilisi, Georgia's capital. This festive occasion coincides with the end of harvest season. During this celebration you can enjoy a variety of local food, cultural displays, including folk music, dance performances, and historical reenactments.

Walking tours of Tbilisi and Kutaisi: As the weather starts to cool down from the summer heat, exploring the cobblestone streets of Tbilisi and Kutaisi on foot becomes even more delightful. The autumn foliage makes October the perfect time to visit these cities.
