How to Apply for an Indian eVisa from Thailand?
Step 1: Apply Online
Go to Indian eVisa website and fill out the application form with all required details.Note: Apply online at least 4 days in advance of your arrival date.
Step 2: Upload Documents
- Recent front-facing photograph with a white background.
- Photo page of the passport containing personal details (name, date of birth, nationality, expiry date, etc.).
- Additional document(s) depending on the eVisa type.
- Ensure all documents and photos are clear and meet specifications to avoid rejection.
Photograph
- Format: JPEG
- Size: Minimum 10 KB, Maximum 1 MB
- Dimensions: Height and width must be equal.
- Requirements: Full face, front view, eyes open, no spectacles, plain light-colored or white background, no shadows, no borders.

- Size: Minimum 10 KB, Maximum 300 KB
Step 3: Fees and Payment
eVisa Fees- 30-day eVisa: April to June: $10 USD
- 30-day eVisa: July to March: $25 USD
- 1-year eVisa: $40 USD
- 5-year eVisa: $80 USD
Payment Deadline: The fee must be paid at least 4 days before the expected travel date; otherwise, the application will not be processed.
Step 4: Tracking and Confirmation
Track Your Application: Monitor the status of your application online using the visa status page on the official Indian eVisa website.ETA Confirmation: Carry a copy of the Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) during travel.
Ensure your ETA status shows 'GRANTED' on the official website before your journey.
Biometric details will be captured upon arrival in India.
Important Notes
- Non-Refundable Fee: The eVisa fee is non-refundable, regardless of whether the ETA is granted or rejected.
- Passport Requirement: Travel must be on the passport used for the eVisa application. If a new passport is used, carry the old passport on which the ETA was issued.
- Passport Validity: At least six months from the date of arrival in India with two blank pages for stamping.
- Payment Status: Payment status may take up to 2 hours to update. If the fee has been deducted but the status is not updated, verify payment by clicking 'Verify Payment/Pay Visa Fee' on the website.
- Eligibility for E-Visa: Recreation, sightseeing, casual visit to friends or relatives, short-duration medical treatment, or casual business visit. E-Visa cannot be used for any other purposes.
- Restrictions: Not available to Pakistani passport holders or individuals of Pakistani origin, diplomatic/official passport holders, those endorsed on parent’s/spouse’s passport, or international travel document holders.
How to Apply for a Regular Indian Visa from Thailand?

Step 3: Visit the IVAC

Step 4: Submit Documents at VFS Global
Required Documents- Completed Application Form: Fill out the application electronically and ensure all details are complete. Incomplete applications will be rejected.
- Signatures: Sign the form in two places – below the photograph and on the last page.
- Photographs: Two recent (not older than three months) colored photographs (2 inches x 2 inches) with a white background. Paste one photograph in the top right corner and staple the other in the top left corner of the form.
- Passport: Valid for at least six months with a minimum of two blank pages.
- References: Provide addresses of referees in Thailand and India.
- Travel Documents: Copy of return ticket and hotel booking for tourist visa seekers.
- Passport Photocopy: Support all visa applications with a photocopy of the passport.
- Referral Form: Non-Thai applicants must fill out a non-residential referral form.
- Birth certificate/house registration.
- Copy of parents' Thai passport/ID.
- Consent letter from parents specifying travel details.
- Documents from guardian/school/tour if applicable.

Step 6: Track Your Visa Status Online
You will receive an email notification once a decision has been made on your visa application and it has been returned to the Visa Application Centre. If you prefer not to rely on email or require more detailed tracking updates, you may have the option to receive SMS updates directly on your mobile phone. Please inquire at the Visa Application Centre you are visiting to see if this service is available.Additionally, you can track the status of your visa application online. Use the Reference Number found on the invoice or receipt issued by the Visa Application Centre, along with your last name, to access this service.
Processing Time
Thai NationalsTourist Visa: Three working days.
Non-Thai Nationals
Standard Processing: Visa is issued on the sixth working day.
Special Cases: Some cases may require 6-8 weeks for processing.
Additional Notes
Accuracy: Applications with false or incorrect information will be rejected.
Acceptance: Submission of the application does not guarantee visa issuance. The length of visa validity and number of entries will be decided by the Embassy of India.
Non-Refundable Fees: Visa fees are non-refundable in case of refusal.
