As per sources biometric system will now use facial recognition as a method of identification. This will definitely speed up the on-ground procedures and boarding will be paper-free. Passengers will not have to wait in long queues and head straight to the boarding gates.
Trial Run in Delhi
Trials have already started-off for the system. Delhi airport's T3 is already experiencing the biometric face-recognition system wherein passengers flying with Vistara Airlines are going through this registration procedure. These trials will run for 2-3 months before complete execution of the plan.With complete enforcement of this system, boarding passes, hand luggage paper tags along with other necessary paper documents will be dispersed.
With the DigiYatra project, passengers can register with a DigiYatra ID that required the passenger's voter Id, Driving license, adhar or passport. This system will speeden up the boarding process as a passenger will not have to show their boarding pass at various checkpoints across the airport.
