Adelaide Fringe is an art festival that takes place annually during the summer for 31 days. It is the biggest art fest in the Southern Hemisphere and completely transforms Adelaide. Its starts from Whyalla and stretches all the way to Naracoorte. There are colorful events that range across theatre, music, visual arts, cabaret, and many workshops. There are also many vibrant comedy and circus events. There are events for all ages and there are diverse artists and venues and it is known for being a ‘people’s’ festival.
The festival is open-access and anyone can register and enter. It begins with free opening night celebrations and then some ticketed events occur along with free events. The three main venues include Gluttony, Royal Croquet Club, and the Garden of Unearthly Delights. There are pop up venues in parks, lanes, and disused warehouses among other places. They bring together over 6000+ artists in about 300 venues across South Australia. There are outdoor events, food tastings, and even events held in historic sites like bomb shelters. They promote local talent, and inclusivity and support cultural diversity. It is a great place for visitors who crave something different exciting and weird.
