The Migration Museum located in Adelaide, South Australia celebrates cultural diversity and tells the stories of South Australian people. The museum is located in North Terrace and is a short walk from Adelaide City Centre. Their permanent exhibitions focus on 20th and 21st Century migration and the super biodiversity in Australia due to people migrating from different cultures.
The museum houses six permanent galleries dedicated to the history of the museum, the impact of migration from an Aboriginal point of view, and recent development. The museum has also published specialist publications on South Australia’s diverse heritage and history and the history of the Destitute Asylum. These can be purchased from the Museum Shop. The Migration Museum’s temporary exhibitions focus on topics such as their footy history, Mosaic for Afghan Women, Japanese - Australian art odysseys, and so on. You will discover the numerous identities of people in South Australia through the stories of communities and individuals. You can take a free guided tour to explore the displays and learn about the fascinating history.
