The Parliament House in Adelaide City, located in the northwest corner of the North Terrace, is the seat of the Parliament of South Australia. With the South Australian House of Assembly residing there since 1889 and the Legislative Council since 1939, the building is of great historical significance. In addition, the Australasian Federal Convention of 1897, the first of three conventions tasked with finalizing an Australian constitution for a federation of the colonies, and the intercolonial Postal and Telegraph Conference were both held at the Parliament House.
