The State Library of South Australia is located on North Terrace in Adelaide. It is the official library of the state of South Australia and houses areas of the State’s history, special collections, family histories, digital collections and so much more. They collect and preserve material relating to South Australia and its people and in many cases hold the last remaining documented copy of items. It features three award winning buildings; the Spence Wing with its iconic glass foyer, Institute Building and Mortlock Wing with a Victorian feel.
It also has a reference library that provides research, information and referral services for the people. The State Library of South Australia offers a free membership which allows you better access of their collections among other benefits. You can find research assistance, resources on a range of subjects and subject guides. There are the latest newspapers, and travel guides and you can take advantage of the free internet. The library also features a huge collection of original artworks, posters, and photographs and they document events. They also hold exhibitions, tours and events at the library.
