Sanskar Kendra, Ahmedabad Overview
Established in 1956, Sanskar Kendra is the city museum located in Paldi in Ahmedabad. The museum is a collection of exhibits depicting art, culture, history, and architecture of the city of Ahmedabad. It also boasts of housing the longest incense stick in the world. Another section in the same museum is devoted to the unique Kite Museum called the Patang Kite Museum.

History of Sanskar Kendra
The Sanskar Kendra was initiated in 1954 by the French architect Charles-Édouard Jeanneret-Gris, popularly known as Le Corbusier. Housing two sections called the Villa Shodhan and the Villa Sarabhai, in addition to the headquarters of the Mill Owner's Association, this local cultural centre in the city was formerly known as the "Museum of Knowledge".
Today, the Sanskar Kendra cites two museums called the Museum of the City and the Kite Museum. The Museum of the City showcases historical documents and artefacts. In contrast, the Kite Museum is set up to continue the local tradition of flying kites through an avid cultural kite exhibit.

Sanskar Kendra Architecture
Built with the focus of sheltering the building from the scorching Ahmedabad heat, the Sanskar Kendra composes of brick walls and an in-house waterbody system to keep the layout cool at all times. The architect, Le Corbusier was keen on establishing a place that countered the local climate; thus, the museum houses a good shade arena along and a green surrounding along with cooling lighting.

Sanskar Kendra is well-connected to the local airport, railway station and the city centre. It is in the vicinity of Ahmedabad city, located about 12 to 15 km from the Ahmedabad International Airport (Sardar Vallabhbhai International Aiport).
