The Central Mosque in Almaty, a stunning example of Islamic architecture, stands gracefully with its golden dome and towering minarets. With room for 7,000 worshippers, the mosque is a serene place to explore, featuring beautifully decorated Quranic inscriptions, white marble walls, and colorful mosaics. You can relax in the peaceful courtyard or admire the intricate details of the mosque, from the carved oak doors to the 47-meter-high minaret.
Built between 1993 and 1999, it holds historical significance as it replaced the old Tatar Mosque from 1890. Inside, you'll find separate prayer halls for men and women, rooms for Quran reading, and spaces for Islamic lessons, making it not only a spiritual center but also a place for cultural learning. Visitors are asked to follow local customs by dressing modestly and removing shoes before entering the prayer halls.
