Jhajjar Bachauli Wildlife Sanctuary, Anandpur Sahib Overview

Dig into natures choicest offerings at the Jhajjar Bachauli Wildlife Sanctuary. Located just 15 km away from Anandpur Sahib, this nature reserve is the ideal destination for nature lovers, wildlife photographers and adventure enthusiasts. Situated close to the mighty Sutlej river, this wildlife sanctuary offers truly delightful visual treats of nature to visitors. Visitors should not forget to bring their camera and binoculars.

The sanctuary covers an area of about 289 acres, with about 218 acres belonging to Jhajjar village, about 55 acres belonging to Bachauli village and the rest belonging to Lamlehri village. It was declared a wildlife reserve in 1998. It is best visited during the winter months from November to March because of pleasant weather. Summers can be too hot, and Monsoons are too rainy for travel within the reserve.

The sanctuary is home to a diverse range of plants and animals with trees like Eucalyptus, Khair, Neem, Shisham, Amla, Subabul etc. Many of these trees have medicinal properties. The animals that can be spotted here include leopards, deer, pangolins, wild boars, jungle fowl, monitor lizards, blue bulls, jungle cats, pythons and other snakes like cobra and rat snake.

How to reach:
Jhajjar Bachauli Wildlife Sanctuary is about 15 km away from Anandpur Sahib. Visitors may take taxi, bus or private cars from Anandpur Sahib to reach the sanctuary in about half an hour.
