St. Charles Borromeo Church is a Baroque-style Roman Catholic church located on Hendrik Conscienceplein in Antwerp. Built between 1615 and 1621 by the Jesuit order, it is renowned for its richly decorated façade, inspired by the Jesuits' mother church in Rome, and its historical association with the artist Peter Paul Rubens, who contributed significantly to its interior decoration.
The church's design reflects the Baroque architectural style, characterized by elaborate decorations and grandeur. Peter Paul Rubens played a pivotal role in its artistic embellishment, contributing to both its interior and exterior designs. Notably, Rubens designed the ceiling paintings, which were unfortunately lost in a fire in 1718. The façade features intricate sculptures and ornamentation, showcasing the artistic excellence of the period.
