Materuni Waterfall, Arusha Overview

Materuni Waterfall is located in Tanzania's Moshi district, near Mount Kilimanjaro. It's one of the area's most impressive waterfalls, perfect for a peaceful nature retreat. Visitors can enjoy the hike up to the waterfall and also combine their hike with Materuni village visit.

You can start your hike to the waterfall from Materuni Village. It usually takes about 45 minutes to walk there from the village office. But if you prefer, you can take a bodaboda (motorcycle taxi) part of the way and then walk for only 15 minutes. When you arrive, you can take a refreshing swim in the cool waters, a welcome break from Tanzania's warm weather. Besides enjoying the waterfall, you can also explore Materuni Village. Here, you can learn about growing and roasting coffee, taste some coffee, and try Chagga cuisine. It's a great way to experience both nature and local culture in Tanzania.

Must Know Before You Visit Materuni Waterfall

Must-Know : Note that a guide is a must while hiking as there are no signs on the trail. You can find one at the village office. Guide charges can be around $25 per day excluding tips.
