Two Sections of the Usambara Mountains: The Usambara Mountains have two parts: the West and East. Lushoto, in the West, is the main starting point for exploring. Here, visitors can see the city's arboretum and herbarium, walk in forests, and find old colonial buildings. The Eastern Usambara, on the other hand, is less developed.
Getting there: You can reach the West Usambara from Lushoto and the East Usambara from Amani.
Summit: The highest peak is Irente Point near Lushoto, offering stunning views of the Maasai Steppe.
Trek Duration: There are various hiking trails in the Usambara Mountains. The easiest trek from Lushoto to Irente Point takes around 2 hours whereas the hike from Lushoto to Mtae typically takes around 2-3 days.

Closed Trails: Hiking trails are closed in April due to heavy rains, making them impassable.
