Bishop James Chapman consecrated St. Mark's Church, an Angelic church in Badulla, Sri Lanka in 1857.
History buffs from all across the globe visit the church to explore the plaque located inside, which honours Major Rogers, the elephant hunter, who died after being struck by lightning. His actual gravestone situated in Nuwara Eliya is half-cracked, possibly due to another lightning strike. In 2008, the bell tower and the church of St. Mark's Church were recognized as a "protected monument" by the Department of Archaeology.
