It is a nice sea voyage to Jambu Dwip, is an independent island, 8 km off the main coast. The island is uninhabited and submerges in water for during high tide. The beach is a famous fishing spot and (Read More) known for the pure drinking water found on it.

Excellent road condition from Kolkata. It is recommended that you reach Naamkhana JT by 9.00AM to avoid congestion and save time. ETTF Esplanade to Naamkhana JT is 3 hours (Non stop) if you start by (Read More)5.30 AM. After crossing the JT at Naamkhana, the drive to Bakkhali is very soothing. This drive will take approximately 40 minutes to Bakkhali beach.

Here you will get a little test of a white sand beach. It's a good destination to enjoy the weekend. There are very fewer people visits here so it is not congested, you will get your own place. If yo (Read More)u travel along the beach you will find the scenic beauty of Bonobibi temple which is the best view of Bokkhali. "Text Hidden" "Link Hidden"

Bakkhali is a popular weekend getaway from Kolkata. It has a beautiful sea beach which remains uncrowded, unlike other beaches in West Bengal. There is not much to do at this place, except for sittin (Read More)g and gazing at the waves. We were advised not to take a dip in the sea as the place supposedly has quicksand. It is basically a rural area so one cannot expect to have modern amenities and services like in cities. We stayed here for two days, and returned on the third day. We also travelled to a Crocodile Breeding Centre from Namkhana, by boat. The boat ride was a pleasant experience. Since we drove to the place during Holi, there was a lot of traffic on the way, so it is advisable to opt for trains if you are visiting during any special occasion.

- Bakkhali is yet to be acquainted with the developments the rest of the world seems to be taking for granted, especially when it comes to plastic money. ATMs and credit cards are not widely accessib (Read More)le. Cash is the only thing accepted at most places. Some bigger hotels and eating joints do accept credit cards, but they are far and few in number.
- Also, to be on the safe side, always buy packed food wherever available. Vegetarian food may get hard to find and you may not always be in the mood for non-veg food.

The beaches at Bakkhali lie behind in comparison to the ones at Puri and Digha. Although the place is serene and uncrowded, there is not much to do here. However, the accommodations are quite satisfa (Read More)ctory. I went for a family trip and stayed at Hotel Ananya, which provided us with a comfortable place to stay. It also had clean bathrooms and bedrooms and had other amenities as well. You can choose to dine at the hotel itself, or go out. Food shacks are placed at regular intervals and Bengali cuisine is widely available. In the evenings, many stalls at the beach sell scrumptious fried fish. Over all, if you wish to go on a trip away from the daily hustle, then Bakkhali is the place for you.
