Qobustan, located about 60 kilometers southwest of Baku, Azerbaijan, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site renowned for its ancient rock art and geological significance. The area is home to thousands of prehistoric petroglyphs etched onto rocks, depicting scenes of hunting, dancing, rituals, and daily life from as far back as 40,000 years ago.
Apart from the petroglyphs, Qobustan features unique mud volcanoes, creating a lunar-like landscape. Visitors can explore these bubbling mud formations and witness their sporadic eruptions.
The site also offers a museum providing insights into the history and culture of the region, adding depth to the understanding of the ancient petroglyphs and the people who created them.
