Jalan Braga or Braga Street is an eclectic mix of both bohemian and traditional influences which earned Bandung the nickname- the 'Paris of Java'. Braga Street may be small in size, but it is overflowing with character and history. Once a major shopping centre for Dutch colonial aristocrats, this tiny street is what gave Bandung its nickname of Parijs Van Java (The Paris Of Java). Now, it is home to a number of cafes, jazz bars, upscale restaurants, and bakeries, that give Braga Street its distinct flavour.
The late 19th century saw a theatre and drama group named the Tooneel Braga became a mainstay of the south end of the promenade and gave the street its eponymous name. Music is a part of Jalan Braga's heritage and tourists can expect to see buskers at every street corner, and bar musicians performing classic rock songs. Various street stalls are also tucked into some pockets of Braga Street. A speciality of this district is the bubur ayam (chicken porridge), which is by far among some of the best street food to be found in Bandung.
Braga Street is popularly referred to as the home of Bandung's Nightlife. The lively spirit of the day holds even during the night making Braga Street the go-to place for all those people who are looking to have an atmospheric and fun nightlife experience.
Try out this place called Hangover which is a busy pub cum restaurant playing classic rock and blues on the stereo and serving some Western and Indo-classic style meals, or head over to North Sea which is known for its tasty meals, great service, and cheap drinks.
Fresh Beer Braga is another cool place to hang out with live music, cheap food, and amazing crafted beers for a great night.
