Botanical Garden, Batumi Overview

Batumi Botanical Garden is a stunning oasis of biodiversity nestled on the slopes of the Green Cape. Visitors admire the panoramic views of the Black Sea from the garden while marveling at the beauty of blooming flora. It is a popular spot for hiking, ziplining, picnicking, and camping. The hiking trails in the garden can lead to the Green Cape lookout point where you not only get the views of Black Sea but can also look at trains passing on an active railway path that runs by the beach. You can also set up overnight camps in the designated areas and spend a night in the garden.

Hosting nearly 2,000 diverse species worldwide, the garden is organized into nine distinct climate zones each of which replicates different climatic zones from around the world. It serves as a recreational retreat and a research center for the conservation and study of plant species. Established in 1912, this botanical haven spans over 108 hectares and boasts an impressive collection of flora worldwide.

Must Know Before You Visit Botanical Garden

Things to Note :

  • Enter from the South Entrance to easily access the Green Cape lookout point.
  • There are no restaurants inside the park so it is advised to carry food inside. However, there is a cafe at the Chakvi entrance and some places near the South Entrance.
  • You can carry a reusable water bottle as there are many water springs in the garden where you can refill it.
  • Electric buses to explore the garden are available near the South Entrance. These buses go to Chakvi Entrance. The price for a seat for a domestic traveler is 5 GEL, while foreign travelers need to pay 10 GEL. The price for a private bus for up to 5 people is 100 GEL.
  • you can hire a guide for 80 GEL. This includes a guided one-and-a-half-hour walk.
  • There are designated areas for camping where visitors can spend the night.
  • Upon arrival you are given a map that lists down all the departments and hiking trails.
