Mtirala National Park, situated in the Adjara region of western Georgia, is known for its lush, temperate rainforests. The park can be reached from the city of Batumi, by public or private vehicles. The park is inhabited by species such as brown bears, roe deer, wild boars, and numerous birds of prey, including raptors that migrate through the region in the autumn. Known for its lush greenery and diverse wildlife, the park offers various activities including horse-riding, and educational tours.
It also offers several hiking trails, with the trail to the Tsablnari Waterfall being a highlight. For thrill-seekers, the 220-meter zip-line is a unique attraction, while the Rope Park offers fun for all ages with its family-friendly and adult zones. Mtirala, meaning “weeping,” refers to the high levels of precipitation the park receives. The park’s dense forests, waterfalls, and rich biodiversity make it a haven for eco-tourists. the park is part of the Colchic Rainforests and Wetlands, which was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2021. It experiences over 4 meters of rainfall annually, making it one of the wettest regions in Georgia. This high precipitation supports a variety of habitats, including lowland forests and mountain meadows.
