The Bodrum Maritime Museum showcases Bodrum's rich maritime and ship-building history dating back to 3000 BCE. The museum is located near Bodrum castle. It is spread over two floors, with the ground floor displaying the various ship models, including large-scale wooden models and the personal collection of Cevat Sakir Kabaagacli, also known as the Fisherman of Halicarnassus. There are also displays, including diving suits and tools portraying the history of fishing and sponge diving.
The first floor has a huge collection of shells and aquatic species worldwide. There is a gift shop at the exit where visitors can buy shells, magnets and other souvenirs.
