La Candelaria is the downtown area of Bogota, which has preserved its historic architecture from the pre-Columbian times. The ever bustling La Candelaria is one of the first stop for every traveller.
Take a long walk through the busy streets of La Candelaria to experience the rich cultural heritage of Columbia. It is the beating heart of Bogota, proudly boasting the numerous shopping centres, market roads and museums. The ancient town is also an abode to many government buildings and a plenty of exciting cafes, bars and restaurants. Wandering about in these narrow roads, which hosts many colonial period landmarks can take about one full day. However, this part of the city is not really considered to be safe enough in the evening and it is advisable to wander about and try some of the restaurants and shops in the beautiful bustling downtown in one day and cover the other famous attractions, especially gold museum the next day.
