The Jardin Public is considered the biggest public open space in the city and has become a go-to place for many, especially during summer time. The lush greenery attracts many tourists. There are attractions for children as well like the puppet theatre, swings, historic carousels and playgrounds.
Besides, it also accommodates an arboretum, a library and a natural history museum. The was built using waste ground between three distinct village areas - Bordeaux itself Saint Seurin to the north and Chartrons to the west. Though the park was designed by architects Voisin and Gabriel in French style it underwent changes following the French revolution. There are 19th-century mansions that surround the park divided by a stream that flows down to the Garonne. The public garden is home to 130 plant species. Thus, many tourists visit this park for a pleasant outing.
