Brook Farm, Boston Overview

Brook Farm is a 188-acre stretch of a National Historic Site that is located in Boston, Massachusetts. This farm was built and developed in 1841 as a part of an experiment by George Ripley. Brook Farm is also called as the Brook Farm Institute of Agriculture and Education and promoted community living based on transcendental ideals.

This utopian experiment asked the members to perform any work of their choice in return for a profit share. It drew in divided opinions but eventually turned financially unstable and was ultimately destroyed in a fire. Later, it was used as an orphanage, training camp, and then as a school too. The premise now attracts many hikers, brisk walkers, and even historians. Additionally, many educational programs are also conducted on the premise.
