The Church of St. Elizabeth, commonly known as the Blue Church, is a distinctive Art Nouveau Catholic church located in the eastern part of Bratislava's Old Town, on Bezručova Street. Consecrated to St. Elizabeth of Hungary, the church is renowned for its striking blue façade, blue-glazed roof tiles, and intricate mosaics, making it a unique architectural gem in the city.
Designed by Hungarian architect Ödön Lechner, the Blue Church was constructed between 1908 and 1913 in the Hungarian Secessionist style, a variant of Art Nouveau. The building features an oval-shaped nave and a cylindrical tower reaching a height of 36.8 meters. Originally painted in light pastel colors, the church later adopted its characteristic blue hue, which, combined with its decorative elements, gives it a fairy-tale appearance.
