General Douglas MacArthur commanded the war in the SWPA from July 1942 to November 1944 from his office on the 8th floor. The office has been transformed into the MacArthur Museum to look behind the frontlines of the Second World War. This museum hosts a collection of documents and exhibits elaborating on the role of Brisbane in World War II. It also focuses on the ties between Australia and The United States that were brought about by the cooperation of the armed forces during the war.
