Fisherman's Bastion, Budapest Overview

The Fisherman's Bastion is located across the street from the Buda Castle and is a pretty tower reminiscent of the castle walls. The highlight of the bastion is its main facade running parallel to the river Danube and its seven stone towers symbolizing Hungary's chieftains.

In addition to bearing a striking resemblance to the Walt Disney logo building, the fantastic panoramic view of the city from the Neo-Romanesque lookout towers at the top of Buda Castle hill is exceptionally mesmerizing. A Neo-Renaissance-style architectural design, Fisherman's Bastion is the work of Frigyes Schulek. Divided into two courtyards, the northern part houses statues of Julianus and Gellert monks; however, the southern part is adorned by a bronze statue of St. Stephen. As you enjoy the panoramic view of the city, don't miss the nearby restaurant in the bastion which serves Swiss cuisine.
