Koza Han translates to ‘inn of the silk cocoon' and once was a caravanserai in old Bursa, which was the centre of silk produce and trade. Today, the courtyard is used as a bazaar selling various silk products and other items. There are more than 100 rooms, including some which were former horse stables or storage units.
The architecture of the han is marvellous, with a gallery surrounding the courtyard, a small mosque in the centre with a fountain and a washing area below it for ritual purposes. There are also stone and brick portals intricately layered with tiles and clay, adding a beautiful overall effect to the Han.
