Bandama Caldera offers some of the most unique landscapes that of a sunken volcano crater. It has one of the most impressive topography features and is a designated natural monument of the Canary Islands. It offers rich volcanic soil that nurtures several vineyards.
This region produces some fine wines such as the Hoyos de Bandama. A few such interesting features that make its topography every hiker’s or geology buff or simply a nature lover’s paradise include Roque Nublo (the island’s highest peak at 1949 metres), Barranco del Draguillo (caves flanked by volcanic cones and which were formed by molten lava) and Playa de Gui Gui (3 beaches, adjacent to one another with black basalt against the blue waters with a backdrop of the volcanic peaks), even describing it all feels lovely! The caldera is made up from the lava of the vocano tthat erupted over 2000 years ago taking along with the eruption the surface layer that covered the volcanic crater.
Other Important Objective Information : 1. Bandama Caldera forms a circular route extending through the ravines of Las Goteras and Guiniguada and is located amid the Santa Brígida, Telde, and Las Palmas de Gran Canaria municipalities.
2. The Playa de Gui beaches are accessible either via a tricky 2-hour trail or a boat only.
3. Bus 311 leaves from Las Palmas to Bandama Caldera.
4. If traveling by car, it is about 20 km from Las Palmas, a 16 km journey through the GC-23 and GC-802 roads.
