Mahkama du Pacha or Mahkamat al-Pasha is a mid-20th-century administrative building located in the Hubous neighbourhood of Casablanca. Constructed during the Second World War, it is famous for its classic Moorish architecture. There is beautiful furniture inside as well. The building is currently used for state affairs, so entry is rarely allowed inside. It is still worth stopping by to admire the facade.
Mahkama du Pacha translates to “the pasha’s courthouse” and used to house a courtyard, jail, parliamentary reception hall, and the pasha’s residence. It features zeleej or mosaic tilework, carved cedar wood ceilings, chiselled stucco work, white marble columns, geometric designs, arches, arabesque plaster and green tiled roofs.
