Champawat is an intrepid town in Champawat district, Uttrakhand. Perched 5,299 feet above the sea level, this quaint town of Champaran is a perfect composite of adventure, religion and history. Sightseeing: Some of the main attractions of this town are beautiful temples like Baleshwar Temple, Naganath Temple, Varahi Temple and Purnagiri Temple. The littoral of the Shyamlatal Lake preserves the profundity and calm of Swami Vivekananda in the Swami Vivekananda Ashram.

Trekking: Champawat offers the tourists to trek to Meetha Reetha Saheb, a Sikh pilgrimage site situated at the Sangam of Lodhiya and Ratiya rivers. Lohaghat, a town 14 kilometres away from Champawat, is considered to be an ideal trek, given the chance to witness the rich biodiversity of the area along with the tranquillizing effect of the Kumaon Himalayan range and several tributaries.

While in Champawat, on the first day, you will want to tour around in the city and visit the Nagnath temple and the Gwal Devta Temple. Next day, you will want to head out of town. If not, then maybe tour around the city looking at the minor structures and the town in general. If you wish to spend the second day out of town, you can visit Ek Hathiya ka Naula and Kranteshwar Mahadev, about 6 km away from Champawat. On the third day, you'll have to pack your bags, and head way out and bid goodbye to Champawat and visit Banasur ka Kila in the morning, Reserve your afternoon and evening and possibly the next day to explore the culture and history heavy town of Lohaghat.

Owing to the high altitude and rough terrain, Champawat has limited connectivity and is well-connected to the rest of India road only. Regular bus services ply to and fro Champawat, connecting the site to major cities of the region such as Dehradun, Haridwar, Mussoorie, etc. There is no direct flight or rail connectivity. Jolly Grant Airport at Dehradun is the nearest airport with multiple connections, around 408 km away from Champawat, while Kathgodam Junction is the nearest accessible railway station, approximately 180 km away.

The shortest route will be to reach Haldwani (294 km) and then approaching Bhowali (29 km from Haldwani). Champawat is 132 km from Bhowali, but the terrain makes it an unfavourable bet to travel by. A better option would be to travel by train or flight. If you're willing to go by road, be prepared for a harsh ride.

Amazing place. Kranteshwar temple is amazing just like Amarnath temple. Actual Kumaun. This place hs everything to mesmerize you. Lord Vishnu's Kurma avtar was born here. Huge Ghatotkachch temple.
