Kalathas Beach, Chania Overview
Kalathas is one of the best beaches close to Chania's city centre. Thus, it is quite crowded, but a few kilometres to the right is a much more empty beach. The beach is known for the famous movie Zorbas, which was shot here. There is a tiny islet opposite the beach, which can be easily reached by swimming.
The water is shallow and hence safe for children. There are also watersports like banana, Ringo, slider, crazy sofa and jet skiing. The beach is also well equipped with umbrellas, sun loungers, water sports, restaurants, hotels, lifeguards, mini stalls, shacks, and markets.
