Illinois Holocaust Museum & Education Center started in 1981 as a response to a Neo-Nazi group attempting to march through Skokie. Through its collections and exhibitions, the institute strives to educate and preserve the legacy of the Holocaust and honor the memory of those who had suffered. The museum houses a collection of over 20,000 items that belonged to Holocaust victims and survivors. The exhibitions are recommended for visitors 12 years and above.
