- Loads of sunscreen, umbrellas, sun glasses will be required during all seasons. Wear proper footwear while walking in the fort. Covering the large fort on a cycle will be a good idea too. Also, sin (Read More)ce the fort is huge, it is advisable to travel in groups. It is also sensible to stay away from the usually friendly but highly unpredictable monkeys in the fort.

Chittorgarh was built by Maurya Dynasty in the 7th century AD and is mainly known for its beautiful forts and temples. The Chittorgarh Fort is the largest in India and houses 4 palace complexes, 19 m (Read More)ain temples, 4 memorials and 20 functional water bodies. If that doesn't make you want to go then maybe the fact that it is included in the travel wish list compiled by Business Insider at no. 7 might help. Despite the city being a history lover's delight, it has something for tourists of all tastes. The famous markets being Rana Sanga market, Fort Road market and the Sadar Bazaar. Also, there is an annual Jauhar Mela held in the city. Jauhar was suicide committed by the women folk each time the fort was under siege i. e thrice in its history. Visit Chittorgarh once in your life, just to see how majestic can power, glory and political superiority can be. How absolutely breathtaking a city laden with history can get. Maybe you will hear Meera bai's hymns at some forlorn night. And maybe, just maybe a visit may change your life.

Winter is the best season to visit Chittorgarh. The Chittorgarh fort is the biggest fort in Asia. It is in the shape of a fish when you view it from above. The fort opens in the morning (around 10 a. (Read More)m.) and closes by evening. It is close to the city. Other attractions include Gau Mukh Kund, Vijay Stambh, Fateh Prakash Palace, Ratan Singh Palace and Meera Temple. Padmavati Mahal is another famous attraction. It is advisable to have a guide with you while exploring these historical places.

One of the most famous forts from Rajasthan, the Chittorgarh Fort is filled with historical as well as architectural marvel. As it is spread over acres and acres of land, it becomes necessary to trav (Read More)el around the various historical monuments of the fort through transport such as jeeps or autorickshaws. The fort has stood witness to a variety of historically significant movements such that taking a guide is also a necessary evil. The guide is instrumental in understanding the history of the fort itself and that of Rajasthan and its princely forces back in the time. The city itself generates economy through the fort such that it is very conservative. I would recommend to wear comfortable and covered clothing so as to not raise objection from the locals.
