Monterosso al Mare is the only village in Cinque Terre with expansive sandy beaches, offering crystal-clear waters, perfect for swimming, sunbathing, and water activities. The beaches are divided into private and free sections, with sunbeds and umbrellas available for rent at the private areas. The village has two main beach areas—Fegina Beach on the newer side and Spiaggia di Monterosso in the old town.
Fegina Beach is the largest and most famous, known for its soft sand, calm waters, and the iconic rock formation “Il Gigante.” This area has a mix of private beach clubs and free public sections, with restaurants, bars, and rental facilities nearby. Spiaggia di Monterosso, located in the old town, is smaller but offers a more traditional and peaceful setting, surrounded by colorful buildings and a charming promenade. Both beaches are ideal for swimming, paddleboarding, and snorkeling, with Monterosso’s calm waters making it the best Cinque Terre village for a beach day.
