Cologne Zoological Garden

Cologne Zoological Garden, known locally as Kölner Zoo, is situated in the Riehl district of Cologne. It is renowned for its diverse exhibits, including the Elephant Park, Rainforest House, and an extensive Aquarium. Visitors can observe a wide range of animals, from primates and big cats to reptiles and aquatic life. Established in 1860, it spans 20 hectares and houses over 10,000 animals representing more than 850 species. It also features an aquarium and several jungle and rainforest houses.

To reach the zoo, visitors can take tram line 18 or bus line 140 to the "Zoo/Flora" stop, which is adjacent to the entrance. For those driving, parking is available nearby. The zoo is open year-round, with extended hours during the summer months. Admission fees vary, and discounted rates are offered for children, students, and seniors. On-site facilities include several cafés and kiosks offering a variety of food and beverages, as well as gift shops for souvenirs. The zoo is family-friendly, featuring playgrounds and educational programs for children.
